The Training Center

Link - Job Training - PDF We believe people with developmental disabilities should have a choice in job training.  One size does not fit all.  Do you want to work in the community?  Our Training Center works with locals businesses like TastyKake and Roadway Trucking to make it happen.   We also offer a full range of training including culinary arts and retail training to prepare you for a job in the community.   Come talk with us. We can create a program that suits your needs.

Employment Partners

Link - Employment Partners  - PDF Employment Partners is a training program for people who want to enter the job market. Our program begins with an intensive four-week evaluation. Trainees are then offered a choice of training areas: Clerical, food services, home health care, shipping & assembly, childcare, and janitorial services. We will then help you find a job and we will give you the support you need to be successful in your new position. Employment Partners accepts applicants with and without disabilities.

Clerical Training
Employment Partners only
Learn the skills you need to work in an office in a fun and family oriented atmosphere. Trainees learn public speaking, keyboard and basic computer applications, (including the Microsoft Office package) along with filing, customer service, telephone operation and etiquette, and mail services. Emphasis is placed on becoming a part of an office team while being motivated toward success. Literacy and math skills are an important component of training.


Food Services Training
Employment Partners only
Be a part of the kitchen staff to learn cooking, food preparation, presentation and customer service. Our trainees are able to join the kitchen staff at Manna to learn other specialized skills such as safe serve procedures.


Home Health Care
Employment Partners only
A six week course preparing you to work as a home health aide. Trainees graduate with a certificate allowing them to work within the geriatric population whether it is in home services or day services..


Child Care
Employment Partners only
Learn the duties of a child care aide by working directly in a child care facility. Three month practicums are offered under the supervision of a head teacher after an intial evaluation is completed.


Environmental Services Janitorial Training

Learn how to clean offices, apartment builidngs, churches and warehouses successfully. Trainees are instructed in environmentally friendly safety practices.

Shipping
Learn how to load and unload pallets and work a floor jack. Training is provided in our facility as well as the Tasty Baking Company.


Packaging & Assembly
This training area stresses hands-on involvement in a variety of production settings. Students perform sub-contract work at our facility and at Tasty Baking Company in packaging, machine operation, mechanical assembly, and material handling.


Computer Disassembly
Learn how to use mechanical tools and hand tools like screw drivers to disassemble old computers.


Job Club

Learn interviewing skills, work place etiquette, and how to complete an application. Trainees and current employees practice with mock interviews and complete various styles of applications.   All mock interviews are videotaped for self evaluation to make voluntary improvements, and also update your resume.


Literacy Classes

Enhance your English language skills through creative writing, personal exploration and public speaking.. This class concentrates on vocabulary, spelling, punctuation, and grammar. Specialized language instruction is tailored to specific job training areas such as home health care and clerical. All ability levels are welcome.

Math Enrichment
Employment Partners only
Basic math skills are stengthened such as money management skills and any other individual need. Accounting and cashiering skills may be reviewed.


Personal Enrichment
Employment Partners only
Learn daily living skills such as opening up a bank account, nutrition, hygiene, appropriate wardrobe suggestions, and communication skills. Non-physical self defense techniques are also covered.


Culinary Arts Program

Be a part of the kitchen staff learning food preparation, presentation, customer service working the cash register with the goal of competitive employment. The Arc Cafe is open 8am to 2pm weekdays and offers tasty and nutritious food at an affordable price.
