The Arc of PA and affiliates meet with legislators in Harrisburg

The Arc of PA helds its annual SAGA Day in Harrisburg with addresses by gubernatorial candidates Tom Corbett and Joe Hoeffel.  Then the Arc of Philadelphia officers, members and staff, along with other Arc chapters from across the state, visited the Capitol offices of a number of elected officials. OLMSTEAD LAWSUIT FILED
:  On June 22nd on the 10 year anniversary of Olmstead DRN filed a lawsuit Benjamin v. Dep’t of Public Welfare arguing that the state has failed to enable people in institution who can live in the community to do so.  The Arc of PA fully supports this effort. Harrisburg: The Arc of Philadelphia was at the table for the very first Intellectual Disabilities Caucus sponsored by Representatives Murt and McIlvaine Smith. Donna Bouclier and Bruce Hulick joined two other parents, Sheila Stasko from the Waiting List Campaign and Maureen Jordan from the Arc of PA for what promises to be an active and productive group
.

Cecelia Thompson, Advocate meets Dr. Heidi Ramirez, Commissioner for the SRC at a fundraising event sponsored by The Notebook in celebration of their 15 year anniversary.  The Notebook is a quarterly publication which reports on activities within the School District of Philadelphia and the Philadelphia Charter School system.  Paul Socolar is the founder and chief editor of The Notebook.
