Available Positions

  • Director of the Arc of Philadelphia
    Responsible to support the mission of The Arc by directing advocacy efforts for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families/caregivers to ensure access to appropriate supports and services that promote community inclusion. Partner with the Executive Director to achieve the strategy and goals of the Arc.

    Provide day to day leadership and management of internal and external advocacy efforts on behalf of individuals served and their families.   Contribute to strategic planning, goal setting and budgeting that will drive the strategy.  Develops budgets for service or program and is accountable for responsible fiduciary implementation of those budgets. Oversees the preparation of all materials for Department of Public Welfare licensing review and is responsible for the building inspection including unscheduled site visits and any inspection of Arc services or programs. Collaborates with the executive team to develop and implement plans for the operational infrastructure of systems, processes and staffing designed to achieve the goals of the organization

    QUALIFICATIONS
    Bachelors degree minimum, Post Graduate Degree preferred in human services or related field with 5 years prior experience in management preferably in the area of disabilities and/or advocacy. Demonstration of leadership, sense of vision and ability to motivate around shared vision. Strong interpersonal skills, professional demeanor and presentation skills. Ability to form and maintain strategic external partnerships and strong verbal, written communication and listening skills.


  • Employment Specialist
    Responsible to support the mission of The Arc/PDDC by supporting consumers to gain and retain independent competitive and community based employment. Candidate must possess a valid driver's license and be able to travel independently to employment sites.


  • Program Specialist
    Responsible to support the mission of the Arc/PDDC by coordinating  all aspects of consumer care with families or care givers, employees and external stakeholders. Coordinates all aspects of consumer support, ensuring implementation of behavior plans, regulatory and licensing compliance, maximizing consumer choice and treating all participants with personal dignity. Participates in the assessment, evaluation and planning of consumer support, and revising individual plans as necessary. Completes initial consumer assessments, updates, discharge summaries on planned/unplanned discharges within prescribed timeframes. Participates in the development of Individual Written Program Plans (IWPP’s) for each individual served.  Supervises implementation of IWPP’s bringing to the attention of supervisor any plans unable to implement. Conducts individual and group counseling sessions structured toward specific IWPP goals. Develops and implements behavioral management programs to encourage appropriate behavior.

    QUALIFICATIONS
    Bachelor's degree required in related field with at least 3 years prior related experience preferably with people with disabilities.  Clear criminal and child abuse history, medical and drug screen. Valid driver’s license.Must demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills with people from diverse backgrounds and varied abilities.Understands the needs of consumers and develops behavior plans that reflect consumer interests and potential, family/caregivers and funder concerns.Able to provide crisis intervention including de-escalation of behavior.
