Karin N. Maynard
Board Director of PDDC
Karin Maynard joined the PDDC Board in June 2006. Karin has over 25 years experience in management and consulting with particular expertise in health care and non profits. She has held Vice President positions within several large insurance carriers including CIGNA Healthplans of CA, John Hancock Healthplans of Atlanta and Group Health Incorporated in NYC. In these positions Karin has been responsible for managed care programs including program development, hospital and provider contracting, medical management oversight, marketing and public relations. Karin provided consulting expertise to Blue Cross Blue Shield of CT for three years assisting them transition from a traditional insurance carrier to a managed care organization. During her tenure there she also provided training to all management and staff regarding the changing structure, new staff requirements and fiscal management under managed care. Additionally, she has provided consulting expertise to several other managed care organizations with an emphasis on change management, new program development and fiscal growth.
Karin has done many public speaking engagements within the health care industry including topics such as managing utilization costs and provider network development and contracting. Most recently she is involved in a new language services company which provides services in over 203 languages to over 300 clients, most of them in the insurance industry. Karin is also an avid community volunteer and serves on the Devon Horse Show and Country Fair Board of Directors as well as many other Committees including Finance, Directors Executive and Marketing Public Relations for the charity. She has also volunteered for the Pulmonary Hypertension Association in assisting in their annual golf tournament and auction.
Karin received her undergraduate degree from Boston University with an emphasis in pre-medicine and graduate studies at the University of Pennsylvania. She is fully bi-lingual in Spanish and frequently travels to Spain and Portugal with her family. She is married to Barry and they have a nine year old daughter, Abigail.
