KRISTIN Ahrens
Board Director
Ms. Ahrens is the Policy Coordinator for the Institute on Disabilities at Temple University. She also coordinates the Partnership (The Pennsylvania Training Partnership for People with Disabilities and Families), a statewide community-based trainingproject for family members and self-advocates. Her 19 years of experience working with people with intellectual disabilities spans from advocacy and community education to providing supported living, family support and participant-directed services.
Ms. Ahrens currently serves on the Association for University Centers Legislative Affairs Committee, the Pennsylvania Home and Community-Based Stakeholder Planning Team, the PA Statewide Independent Living Council Home and Community-Based Services Committee and the Disability Budget Coalition.
Ms. Ahrens was previously the Director of Self-Determination Resources, Inc. (SDRI), a regional brokerage serving adults with intellectual disabilities, in Portland, Oregon. As Assistant Director, and then Director, of the non-profit organization, she was responsible
for the development and operation of SDRI, Oregon’s model brokerage, and played a key role in the replication of that model state-wide.
Ms. Ahrens has expertise in disability-related policy, peer-to-peer training models, home and community-based waivers and participant-directed services including Person-Centered Planning, Financial Management Services and Support Broker Services
