Jim Conroy Dr. James Conroy was graduated cum laude from Yale University in 1970 with a BA in Physiological Psychology. He received his MA in Sociology/Program Evaluation in 1982, and the Ph.D. in Medical Sociology from Temple University in 1992. Dr. Conroy began his career by working on, then directing, a national study of the possible impacts of the Developmental Disabilities Act of 1970. Dr. Conroy is the founder and president of The Center for Outcome Analysis, a non-profit firm founded in 1985 to perform evaluation, research, and training projects in the human services. COA has completed successful and widely publicized studies in the fields of AIDS, preschool and early intervention, aging, child welfare, housing, nursing homes and long term care, health care and health care reform, children's health screening, special education and inclusion, criminal justice, and market research. Dr. Conroy's major interests and skills concern 'outcomes,' such as quality of life assessment, and measuring the results of human service interventions. Dr. Conroy has been a consultant to 18 federal agencies, and to more than 100 state and local agencies since 1970, and has been Principal Investigator for more than 100 funded grants and contracts. He is the author of more than 270 formal reports in the fields of disabilities, aging, child welfare, and other human service fields, including 31 articles in professional journals, 12 book chapters, and 272 formal deliverable research reports to government agencies. Dr. Conroy's work has been publicized on 60 Minutes, the Peter Jennings ABC Evening News, NightLine, Public Television, the Philadelphia Inquirer, the New York Times, the Chicago Tribune, multiple radio interviews, and a variety of other media.
