Rep. Vanessa Brown Joins Arc/PDDC for Mural Arts Paint Day

Rep. Vanessa Lowery Brown joined seventy volunteers and staff persons at The Arc of Philadelphia and Philadelphia Developmental Disabilities Corporation (PDDC)  when the nonprofit agency hosted a community-wide Paint Day for
the Philadelphia Mural Arts Program.

According to Laura Princiotta,
the COO of the Arc and PDDC,  volunteers painted three
sections of a mural entitled,
"This We Believe" - a mural
that was designed by artists Michelle Ortiz, Eric Okdeh and Kien Nguyen.

Through a series of meetings held all over the city this winter, community members were asked to capture what they believed about Philadelphia.

Two teams of artists competed and the resulting mural came
out of a city-wide vote in early spring. The finished mural will
be dedicated as part of the
Mural Arts Program's 25th anniversary celebration at a ceremony on September 25th
at 30th Street Station.  After
being on display for a month
at the train station, the huge banner will on display at the Gallery at Market East.
