Lunch with Michael Nutter

When Arc of Philadelphia/PDDC staff and board members met up with mayoral candidate Michael Nutter for lunch yesterday, they shared more than a meal.   The meeting was also a chance to talk about how to better serve people with intellectual disabilities.

In his conversation with the ARC/PDDC team, Mr. Nutter talked about the challenges of finding high quality jobs for people with

disabilities and the upcoming change to fee-for-service.   Noting that many answers to these challenges have already been developed, Mr. Nutter stressed the need to benchmark ourselves against the best programs throught the state and nation.

This lunch was this organization’s second encounter with Mr. Nutter in 2007.  Earlier in the year, Mr. Nutter attended a meet-the-candidates event hosted by The Arc of Philadelphia.  Mr. Nutter thanked us for the opportunity to speak with families and providers.

Committing himself to improving services for people with disabilities in the city of Philadelphia, Mr. Nutter commended The Arc of Philadelphia/PDDC on its good work.  “I’ve known about the Arc of Philadelphia for many years,” said Mr. Nutter.  “I hope to be able to work closely with you as you continue your great work for the community.”
