Advocacy Hosts Dental Screening Day
Afraid of going to the dentist? Not if you came to the Arc on April 30th! Elwyn’s Dental Clinic staff offered free screenings to 50 people. And 49 were receptive to the gentle touch of the hygienist. STORY

The Arc Attends Rally in Harrisburg
Representatives from The Arc of Philadelphia joined over 250 individuals from across the state at a rally on the steps of the Capital Building in Harrisburg. The event was designed to shed light on the need for a 3% cost of living increase for service professionals in the developmental disability and mental health systems. It came at a time when the Appropriations Committee is drafting next year’s state budget. Participants also called for state politicians to acknowledge the more than 20,000 people on the waiting list for services throughout the state of Pennsylvania.

Friendship, Fun and Family Grant
The Arc of Philadelphia was awarded a $10,000 mini-grant from the City of Philadelphia Department of Behavioral Health and Mental Retardation Services. This funding will support the implementation of a “peer mentoring” initiative for youth with and without disabilities, as well as community outreach efforts.
